PHY 311 Thermodynamics

Description: This course focuses on developing a detailed understanding of fundamental concepts such as the laws of thermodynamics, entropy, free energy, equilibrium, and fluctuations and their pivotal role in physics (as well as other branches of science). Additional topics will be covered including partition functions, ensembles, kinetic theory, and phase transitions. This course is designed to tie into concepts presented in classical mechanics (PHY 312) and quantum mechanics (PHY 314).
